Pilates is an invigorating form of exercise for your mind and body that can improve strength, flexibility and overall mobility. It helps restore your body to balance and is a complementary component of any fitness training regime, just about everyone can benefit from it.  Importantly, it is recognised as one of the safest forms of exercise today.

With regular pracitise you may see the following benefits -

+Improved flexibility, strength and muscle tone

+A sense of relaxation and lowered stress levels

+Better balance and co-ordination

+Improved lung function and circulation

+Improved performance in sport/dance

+Reduced incidence of back pain/other physical aches and pains

+Better posture

There are also benefits that aren’t quite so easy to see – Pilates can help maintain and improve bone density and facilitates injury prevention and physical rehabilitation.

Jo Munro
Originally I was trained as a dancer, specialising in ballet and contemporary dance, however I had to retire early due to injury. Pilates was integral in my recovery and it seemed like a natural progression to train as a pilates teacher and to pass the knowledge on to other people.
I began teaching Pilates matwork in 2001, and have continued my Pilates education to cover all of the Pilates Studio equipment. This comprehensive training enables me to teach on the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel and with all of the small Pilates equipment.
This year I was certified as a Level One GYROKINESIS® Teacher.  This is still relatively new to the UK, and I am one of only a few people in Scotland who are able to teach this technique.
I have recently completed my training and I am now fully qualified with The European College Of Bowen Studies as a Bowen Therapist.

Andy Pearson
Hi I’m andy p.
I was so transformed by Pilates after it saved me from long term sports induced back pain that I was inspired to become a teacher.
I teach, what I call, “off the mat Pilates,” showing you how the body really moves and teaching you techniques and ideas that you can take home with you.
Pilates supports and empowers you to work on your problems every day not just in class.
I find Pilates compliments other therapies which I encourage my clients to seek out.
I love to see Pilates make a big difference in people’s lives. Through volunteering work at the local M.S. treatment centre I have been able to see the effectiveness of the Pilates method.
I work with clients who have M.S. fibromyalgia and M.E. with great results.
I am fully trained and qualified in the excellent POLESTAR method and am glad to have found a home at The Pilates Attic, City and Shore. I look forward to helping as many people as I can to feel stronger, more empowered, flexible and relaxed.
Please call me if you would like an informal chat.

I'm Ruth, proud and happy to be the brand new practice manager for The Pilates Attic, City and Shore.  Fresh back from Brighton to work with my sister Jo and my partner Andy P thus making The Pilates Attic a lovely family business.  I will have loads of time and energy to help with your bookings and answer all your pilates queries.  This should give you speedier responses on the phone and email, and give Jo a bit of well deserved time off.  I look forward to talking to you soon!
